#105: When Knowledge Isn't Enough
I started taking Coursera's free course on The Science of Well-being this morning. And the instructor—Professor Laurie Santos—talked about the G.I. Joe fallacy, which is the mistaken idea that knowing is half the battle.
According to her, "Merely knowing something is not enough to put it into practice." Knowledge is not enough to change our behavior. We can't just learn about the best practices and expect our lives to turn around—we have to cultivate and change our habits.
Theories won't change our life. Applying them would.
