#58: The Role of Routine In Easing Emotional Turmoil

I've been having the roughest days of the year lately.

But I fall back to my simple routine which makes me feel at least 1% better, calmer, and more grounded each day despite the raging emotions in my inner world.

That routine includes doing something for:

  • The mind. I practice meditation using Headspace as a guide at least 5 minutes a day. This helps me be kinder to my mind and be intentional with which thoughts I entertain throughout the day. I also write and ship daily, which helps me untangle my thoughts and get more clarity.
  • The body. Thanks to my dog Ringo, I force myself to walk outside at least 15 minutes a day. I usually find myself refreshed and energized after these walks.
  • The soul. I read the Bible, pray, and take notes of the verses that strike a chord with me.

How does your routine support you during tough times?
